Brian C. Steward is a civil trial attorney with the Law Firm of Brian C. Steward, P.L.L.C. Mr. Steward is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Steward is also a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. These are honors reflective of thirty plus years of complex civil litigation in Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey and New Mexico.

Mr. Steward was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1990 as well as the Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of the Federal Court system in 1992. Mr. Steward was admitted to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1994. Although a trial lawyer, he has argued numerous cases to the Fourth Court of Appeals and submitted briefing to the Fifth Circuit on civil rights cases involving the use of excessive force by law enforcement personnel.

Before starting his own law firm, Mr. Steward worked at established firms on the claimant and defendant side of the docket. Mr. Steward was a senior associate with Strasburger and Price, L.P., which was followed by work Ketterman, Rowland & Westlund. In these firms, he handled products liability, medical malpractice and business litigation matters through trial. He has also remained engaged with the San Antonio and Texas legal communities. He has presided over the Medical Legal Liaison Committee of the San Antonio Bar Association on three separate occasions. He was also elected to chair the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee District 10. He currently serves as a Director of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and a Board member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Steward has served as a Course Director for the State Bar of Texas Advanced Personal Injury seminar. He has also been a presenter at the Advanced Personal Injury Seminar in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He has been on the Texas Trial Lawyers Continuing Legal Education Committee since 2019 and has spoken at the Mid-Year meetings in 2019 and 2020 and the End of Year meeting in 2019.

Mr. Steward demonstrates an unwavering dedication to preserving the Seventh Amendment as well as the rights of Texas citizens through his involvement in various advocacy groups which include the Texas Freedom Network, Texas Watch, American Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP. Mr. Steward is active in the American Association for Justice, the San Antonio Bar Association and the William S. Sessions Chapter of the American Inns of Court.

Mr. Steward is a native San Antonian, who attended school at San Antonio Academy. After graduating from The Academy in 1979, he went to Deerfield Academy. After Deerfield, he went to Duke University, where he graduated with a degree in History. He returned to San Antonio to attend St. Mary’s School of Law. Mr. Steward was honored to serve as a Board Member of San Antonio Academy. He is currently the Regional Chair for the Duke University Alumni Admissions volunteers. He has also been selected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Deerfield Academy Alumni Council.

Mr. Steward has served as a Board Member of the San Antonio Library Foundation as well as the Child Advocates of San Antonio, He currently serves as a Board Member of the San Antonio Zoological Society, San Antonio Book Festival and Planned Parenthood of South Texas. Mr. Steward also served a Board member of the San Antonio report during the transition from the Rivard report to the current name and status.
His dedication and hard work have been recognized by his peers as evidenced by his selection as a Texas Super Lawyer from 2014 to the present. He has been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in San Antonio by Scene in San Antonio since 2006. In 2015, Mr. Steward was first recognized as one of the best 25 personal injury litigators in San Antonio and he has maintained that ranking since then. 

He currently serves as a Director of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association and as a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Steward is also a faculty member of the Trial Advocacy College of Texas (TACT).
